I want one so bad with Toce Brothers pipes
(warning douche nozzle w/o helmet)

They look and sound good.
Too bad liter bikes are primarily ridden by douchenozzels without a clue of how to ride them.

This. It seems every 600 or 1000 supersport in my area is ridden by some squid that has, as you've said, no clue how to ride them. This is why I'm leaning hard towards getting something more practical for my next motorcycle (but it still has to be able to have a bit of fun of course!).

They look like a lot of fun but some of the people that ride them make me want to hide my helmet. I do like the KTM 500 EXC, $10k for a 500cc thumper dual sport.

I came really close to buying an R1 last week, but then the CBR1000 popped up and the price was just too good.

Given the choice I would have taken the Honda too.

Yeah, but those Yamahas are some serious engineering pornography (especially the engines)

Yeah they look nice. The Ducati Penigale's make the Japanese bikes look antiquated though, what with their frameless design.

True, but as much as I'd love to give a Ducati a good thrash, I would not want to own one. I'll take the reliability of the Japanese bikes even if they are less advanced, I mean hell, my Honda has a 6000 mile service interval.

True, I'm sure they will be cheaper to own. My Honda dirtbike has taken years of thrashings and never asks for more than oil and tires to keep going.

My virago has been the same way, oil, tires...
well, plus the bi-annual can of seafoam, some jumpstarts here and there on cold mornings, and the occasional push start, but aside from that it has been pretty reliable :)

Oh yeah I forgot the battery is dead now for the second time (bad cell not just dead). Other than that (and a couple good wrecks) I've never had to replace anything on it.
